I am proud to share that MPS has been honoured with the Environmental Stewardship Excellence Award from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water. This recognition celebrates the hard work and dedication of our team in advancing sustainable practices. Through our commitment to environmental responsibility, we are helping build a cleaner, more sustainable future for Australia.
Expanding Our Environmental Initiatives
At MPS, sustainability isn’t just a box we tick; it shapes our daily operations. We are proud of the steps we’ve taken to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency and support the adoption of renewable energy. Here are some key initiatives that highlight our comprehensive approach:
1. Solar Power and Energy Efficiency
Solar Installation: We have installed a 50kW solar array at our Perth headquarters, reducing our reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering our carbon footprint. Plans to install battery systems will soon enable us to store off-peak energy, resulting in even greater efficiency.
Energy Monitoring: Ongoing monitoring at our Perth headquarters enables us to identify opportunities for energy savings and minimise waste.
2. Smarter Building Operations
ISO 14001 Certification: MPS is ISO 14001 certified, committed to reducing environmental impact through sustainable practices, legal compliance and continuous improvement, while meeting client needs responsibly.
Building Tuning: By fine-tuning building systems for optimal efficiency, we’re reducing energy use and emissions across our locations.
3. Sustainable Fleet Management
Fleet Transition: Our vehicle fleet is transforming, with the introduction of hybrid utes and trials of electric vehicles. We’ve already implemented fuel usage tracking with BP systems and set reduction targets for the next five years.
Technician Efficiency: Tools like Aroflo ensure the nearest technician is dispatched for each job, reducing unnecessary travel and fuel usage.
4. Waste Reduction and Recycling
Digital Solutions: By shifting to paperless operations and digital archiving, we’ve significantly reduced paper consumption.
Recycling Programs: We plan to establish national agreements with refuse providers to standardise recycling efforts across all offices. This approach will enable us to monitor waste levels and establish realistic reduction targets.
5. Empowering Our People and Clients
Staff Solar Initiatives: We are developing an offer to provide a discount on solar panel installations to our staff, supporting their transition to renewable energy at home.
Client Education: Through education and energy-saving initiatives, we help clients reduce their environmental impact and improve efficiency.
After many years in this industry, one thing is clear: protecting the environment is a continuous responsibility. At MPS, we are dedicated to finding smarter, more impactful ways to reduce our footprint and drive meaningful change.
